Many thanks to the brave souls who braved the heat and drive and joined us in North Fork at the creek this past weekend; we were small but MIGHTY! *grin* Plans are in the works for future events involving mass amounts of water and our favorite people in the same place at the same time. Preferably these plans will continue to end in a small, local dive with excellent hamburgers on the menu. *chuckle*

We’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Morning All!

Please note, when you get to the location, park off the grass near the NSF flags at the entrance to the property and shout down the hill to the creek. We’ll arrange a party to help you get your gear up in camp and parked for the duration of our time at the site.

Can’t wait to see you – and to sit in the creek playing cards!

Just a reminder folks, we will be down at the creek for a portion of the Summer Siege event, this bring up a few points;

Breakable items should be kept to a minimum and/or packaged in such a way as to prevent glass/pottery shards from ending up in our bathtubs. The rocks can be slick, so if you have a leather costrel or jack – this is the event to bring it to! *wink* We will have a couple of mostly-submerged baskets in the creek to ‘host’ glass beer bottles and whatnot and keep them cold. Claudia has suggested that you can “wrap” your ceramic tankards in a cloth in order to ensure that they are both cushioned, and that shards are kept in one place in the event of a break.

It’s summer and near a creek – sunscreen and mosquito repellant are you friends!

As the grass is dry and high, we are suggesting that folks plan on some ‘cold meat/bread/cheese/pickled items’ lunches; this cuts down on the need for as many fires as well as making packing a ‘picnic’ for the swimming hole easier.

Only a week away!

With only a little more than a week until the Summer Siege event in North Fork (July 10th & 11th) , I am sending out the necessary reminders regarding directions, waivers and regulations. For those not on the Renaissance_Military Yahoo group, I can send you the documents directly if you IM me with your e-mail address. For those on the group list, all necessary documents can be found here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Renaissance_Military/files/North%20Fo...

If you have any questions, please contact me and I will provide more details or clarification.

Please note, to help pay for supplies there is a charge of $15 for the weekend. We should have firewood and shade cloth up on site, and shade at the bathing pools as well. Also, any open flame should be carefully monitored as the grass is tall and very dry. We’re going up early on Friday to clear the fire pit area of combustibles (other than those we intend to have there…).

We’re looking forward to seeing folks and to enjoying some good gambling, food and company at the bathing pools!

*crossing fingers that the Reno folks can make it!*

*EXCELLENT!* We are going to have a blast...nice and relaxed, with time to hang out and chat (which we all so rarely get). Lovely!

The Reno contingent is going to do our best to make it. If I come I will have all the shave gear with me for those interested.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, as the Siege quickly approaches, we’d like to encourage folks to let us know if they will be able to make it out this year. The event promises lots of bathhouse fun (time to check to see if your linen is see-through when wet, or if you have tan lines….*wink*), with gambling, drinking and picnicking at the nearby swimming hole and waterfall.

Temperatures will be warm (estimates are 92 degrees by day, 57 degrees by night) but the creek is quite cold. Please be sure to bring along a ‘towel’ – length of wool or linen – as these are in limited supply. It has been has suggested that the linen curtains sold at Ikea are ideal and cheap to boot!

We hope to see you there; think of is as Summer Camp for reenactors! *grin*

FYI - Reconstructing History will be making BBB bathing gowns in the very near future. If you'd like to buy (rather than make) your gown, here are the details:

Cost: approx $50
Material: 100%, 3.5 oz linen
Construction: All french seamed (no serging!).
'See Through Factor': These will be "wet = nude", but RH will take custom orders for heavier linen if requested
