I know that all groups do this a little differently (SCA, Reenactment, Faire, etc.), but I was curious what peoples thought are on what constitutes a “well-done” encampment? Fixtures/furniture? Tents? Craft-type equipment/set-up?

And of course, if you have any especially terrific resources, please feel free to share!

Sounds lovely!
Nice!

The original Fat Boy!

This woodcut series contains a lot of great surprises.

To be honest, I have the tent, an oak bed, and all the comforts for a long stay siege affair (oooh, those long weekend sieges, lol), but I am often happiest taking the 'all-I-can-carry' approach. I have a scrip for day-to-day living (bowl, spoon, knife & pricker, comb, cards) and an assortment of junk that seems to collect after a fayre, also a winter schaube, palliasse and a biwacht, with some comforts; cooking pot, knives, food, underwear.

I personally think a good camp has those who can afford a tent (officers) with them and the rest of us under makeshift shelters, looking like an army on the march. that way the ambience of a camp is in the dynamics of the people, not the props.

This debate would do well to wake up again. I'd really like to hear any new interesting gear that people have created. This pic also gives a few ideas:

I am not a great woodworker so I am trying to coerce our local woodworkers into trying this "pew table."

Interesting. Heavy though. Any historical references?

I checked and there is no documentation on the original posting.  I am not sure how old the original is yet but I'll keep an eye out for the source.
