1568~ Barber's shop

The towel warmer idea came from this cut. On the back shelf you can see a not-to-scale razor under the spoon, scissors and what might be a hanging strop. Various Barber's bowls as well as a neat lantern design and the "shower" for washing hair

Just found out that it originally had some verse along with the picture. It translates as:

"The Barber,

I am called upon everywhere,

As I know how to make many ointments,

To heal fresh wounds with compassion,

As well as broken legs and old injuries,

To treat syphilis and cataracts,

To heal gangrene and pull teeth,

As well as to shave, wash and cut hair,

I am also happy to bleed patients."

I'm sure someone will comment on how well this fits me

Hehe I like that. Yes those little things are what make it feel authentic.

Our group does a shaving demo sometimes and the public loves it! they're spellbound by the blade near someone's throat, and it makes the morning routines seem so real.

Wonderful pic, so many helpful gadgets that could be used in field for increased comfort. Jost Ammans Book of Trades.

The barber has a dagger (or short sword) while doing his job. Wonderful.
